If the blue wall holds, she needs only one swing state to win the White House.By SHANE GOLDMACHER and ANNIE KARNI 06/19/16 07:34 AM EDT Updated 06/19/16 09:56 AM EDT
Hillary Clintons super PAC has begun spending $145 million on ads in eight states through November and theres a realistic path for her to win the White House even if she carries only one of them.
Its a sign of how strongly tilted the Electoral College map is in Clintons favor, as she begins a general election campaign building upon the demographic and geographic coalition that President Obama rode to two electoral landslides. Donald Trump, in contrast, must dramatically reimagine and redraw the political landscape to capture the presidency.

(31,832 posts)They created their monster and now he's going to destroy them, one way or another. If you watch the faces of Ryan, McConnell and others, you can see that they realize this. Right now, they are hoping to keep the House and Senate, but they don't seem too sure of that.
I'm loving it.

They just can't come out and say how insanely unqualified Trump is - and how insane the Republican electorate seems to be.

(28,270 posts)the Bush's, Romney's, Koch bros etc stole the nomination from Trump somehow right?
That would be the first shot of a grand republican party civil war. The tea baggers and their Hate radio allies would be enraged if that should happen.
I still think Hillary comes out on top in that scenario because many out-of-their-minds-with-rage republicans would cross over and vote dem just to destroy the old party bosses once and for all.
Besides that, who would they put up in Trumps place? Cruz?
It would be a cakewalk for Hillary, IMO.

(521 posts)Not to mention, who would want to be the sacrificial lamb, if the GOP were to replace Trump? This point seldom gets raised in these discussions, but it's central. I don't think anyone -- even Sarah Palin -- would want to pick up the gauntlet.

(44,173 posts)Republicans really would have been less worse off by just picking the candidate in a smoke filled hotel room back in February and skipping the primaries.

(31,832 posts)this time around. They're just hoping to hold the House and Senate. You can see it in their eyes.

(5,123 posts)lets all not forget the lessons of the past, and not allow a Tea Party of the left to actually happen in our party.
