Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumSo.... What do you think about clearing out the block list?
This discussion thread was locked by William769 (a host of the Hillary Clinton group).
There are 830 people on the block list. Many have been there for a long time. DU has moved on to the GE and this time Hillary is the candidate.
I know that a lot of people have earned their way onto that list, but many are also long gone or are now Hillary supporters (possibly by default). I know you think I'm nuts to suggest it, but it's worth doing as a matter of good faith, mending fences, etc. If people cause problems you can block them again. And if they're really bad they will get tombstoned anyway.
So what do you think? Can we do it?

question everything
(48,833 posts)Not that I am interested in the Sanders room but it still bugs me how swiftly I was blocked for.... thanking someone, and recommending his post.
And one of the reply is that blocks will stay in place.
Personally I don't have problem with lifting the blocks, as long as we don't get nasty comments.

(15,445 posts)Let's do it. At the disgression of the hosts, of course.
Nothing says that those who abuse the privilege can't be banned once again.

(25,699 posts)were/are good Democrats enthusiastically supporting their candidate. At times did they go overboard, yes, but I would bet many of us did as well. Release them. You always have the option of reblocking them if they can't get beyond their primary campaign emotions.

(54,795 posts)You need to clear it out. Start from scratch. That's just too many to be blocking.

(1,596 posts)but I don't think that I will spend a lot of time unblocking one at a time.

(31,832 posts)I'll bet that many of them have left DU by now or will in the near future. You can always block them again if need be.

(53,475 posts)But not all of them. There are some that are still pushing it.
I would also leave in place those that have been revoked. There are about 90 with that status. And anyone that hasn't posted since last year.
Renew Deal
(82,931 posts)Why?
LiberalFighter
(53,475 posts)Because they either demonstrated their refusal to support Clinton based on their statements, have their posting status revoked, or have not posted this year. Those that have not posted possibly are no longer around. There are just a few that were still posting crazy yesterday.
That would leave between 130 to 150 that would be kept.

(82,931 posts)We would probably get into big arguments about who is worthy and who is not. It's easier to just wipe it out.

I have my Block Mail list, which has grown to alarming proportions, but periodically I do update it to Full Block when someone gets PPR'd.
As the atmosphere on DU simmers down I plan to delete a bunch of people from that list -- there's a lot of oldtimers I used to be able to have a civil discussion with, and it will help me forgive and forget.

(55,830 posts)I am now going to lock this thread because it has run it's course.
There is a reason these people were blocked and at the times of the blocking it was for the betterment of the Group.
If they truly want to support Hillary Clinton, they can do so in General Discussion: 2016 http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=forum&id=1251
