Hillary Clinton

The media have long had it in for Hillary Clinton. Theyve shown a demonstrable pattern of formulating negative narratives in an attempt to derail her campaign. And theyre very restless with a race that she looks so capable of winning. We need to be prepared for what will come if Donald is pushed out of the race, because it wont be pretty.
I was thrilled to see how outstanding Hillarys campaign rollout was for a number of reasons, not least of which is this: There is a very real chance that Donald will not be the Republican nominee on Election Day.
Nothing in her political career has ever been handed to Hillary; shes always had to fight for it and shes had to fight harder than the average politician, by virtue of the uniquely personal animosity for her expressed by large swaths of the traditional media.
Whatever shes doing is portrayed as wrong. Consider this history: In 2008, Hillary announced her candidacy following an enormous number of pieces in the media about how she must run and end our long national nightmare of Republican governance. And, while she was at it, make history as the first female president. Right after she announced, then came the articles about how she felt entitled to the presidency, that she expected to be coronated, that she was part of a dynasty and needed to go away. Within months, there was enormous pressure for Hillary to drop out of the Democratic Primary, even when she still had a decent chance of winning the nomination.
The Republicans will stop at nothing to take control ...of our Dem Party,of course she could beat any (R)

(6,444 posts)That the Republican leadership will find a way to give Donald the boot and install a moderate replacement someone with the same ugly policies but willing to use a dog whistle instead of a bullhorn is not outside the realm of possibility. And the media are angling for it to happen.

The press hates Cruz, he's creepy, scary and looks like Count Dracula~!

(1,837 posts)The Republicans would have to find a candidate who a) doesn't have severe drawbacks and b) is so desperate to be the nominee that they're comfortable starting a campaign from scratch in late July.
I can't think of anybody in their ranks who's both untainted and stupid enough to ruin that untainted status by becoming the consolation prize of 2016. Surely that candidate, if s/he exists, would rather hang fire and wait for 2020?
His name is John Kasich, and he is currently the governor of Ohio. He's also the media darling of the Rethuglican primaries with his down-home, aw-shucks, son-of-a-postman act.
He wants to screw up the US in the same way he has screwed up Ohio, and M$M is more than happy to help him in his quest.

(1,837 posts)He won exactly one primary, in his home state. That's part of what I meant by "tainted"; how does he convince the GOP that he's anything more than just a regional politician?

(2,577 posts)I kept getting freaked out during the primaries when M$M kept calling him "reasonable" and "moderate." He is anything but.

(15,496 posts)provided Hillary Clinton with the most negative coverage of ALL candidates in the race.
Oh wait ... that has been documented by third party studies and she is still standing tall.
The media are a sideshow and a distraction. Except for a few specific reporters who have provided outstanding reports, they created the Trump phenomenon and are only now beginning to realize that they have created a monster in every respect. The truly sad thing is that Trump - awful as he is - is the living embodiment of today's GOP, which has also been encouraged and nurtured by the media.
What we have to continue doing is working as hard as we can to ensure that ALL voters are registered and able to vote, physically get them to the polls, if necessary, and monitor the polling places to ensure that there are no shenanigans on Voting Day.

(9,494 posts)any poll to make it look like an actual race. Of course we have to stay smart and keep at it but we have always been winning this and we will win no matter what form of political suicide the GOP chooses for itself.

(2,117 posts)the blue collar Trump movement which has taken over the party. They would see it as confirmation of a longstanding establishment conspiracy. Where would they go? Libertarian? Back to the Democratic Party at last? Who knows. I do know it would be death to the GOP. They should totally go for it.
