The committee crafted a lengthy platform and then on the final day in front of cameras, the Bernie folks come out with amendments on major issues that were already settled in the platform. Smells like a publicity stunt. There is no way that trade, healthcare, Israel/Palestine, and the minimum wage weren't discussed/hashed out before the final day.

(28,833 posts)Many trotted out a video that "proved" that it was voted down. Turns out, had they been paying attention, it was only an amendment that was being voted down and the $15/hour provision was already firmly in the platform.
A few people rode that one for the past two days to the tune of hundreds of posts. Some are still posting about it, even after it's become clear that the process was misrepresented from the start.
That being said, I'm not too worried about it. In a way, I'm glad that some alleged "Bernie" provisions made it into the platform, because it blunts any claims that his representatives were ignored in the process. It's pretty clear that everyone was involved.

(51,447 posts)There's a thread in Bernie Underground talking about Sanders going to the sit-in. Bernie completely skipped the filibuster and arrived late to the sit-in but instantly Bernie (five Nay votes on the Brady Bill) and His Grand Ideas became the inspiration for the whole thing.
