Bernie Sanders, who pushed Clinton to the left on those very issues during the long primary season, was nowhere to be found. The presumptive Democratic nominee was flanked by Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who has possibly more leftist credibility on the issue of income inequality than anyone but Sanders. Im with her! Warren cried as the crowd roared.
As Sanders refuses to fully back Clinton, weeks after she clinched the nomination, her campaign has had to launch its party unity strategy without him. At the national level, Clinton appeared with Warren, and will soon rally alongside President Obama and, later, Vice President Joe Biden. Both are incredibly popular among Democrats.
Meanwhile, Clintons local campaign teams in Florida and other states are arranging joint phone banks and cookouts to bring Sanders and Clinton supporters together to organize against Republican Donald Trump even in the absence of Sanders endorsement of Clinton.
There's an election to be won.

(11,014 posts)Nearly 95% of Sanders supporters will vote for Hillary.
Who are they going to vote for?
Trump?
Johnson?
The libertarian party is for making people fend for themselves - against single payer and free tuition. They are also against government setting wages - so no $15 minimum wage.
Stein?
She offers even less of the Sanders' agenda.
Some die-hards will write-in Bernie and waste their votes -- but they will be few and far in between.

This is standard, usual, predictable behavior for Sanders.
HUGE props to his supporters who are now with Hillary. They did it wisely, and all on their own. It's a rough transition, as nearly all of us know.

(12,168 posts)It will be tough for him to continue to say the reason was they were already in the tank for Hillary. He later indicated they could switch if they wanted--they did not. Now we are seeing being played out in full living color what many of them already knew.
Many are still waiting for him to adjust and come around. My kids adjusted to heavy disappointment a whole lot faster--just saying
Still waiting

(1,630 posts)There is a real hunger in this country for progressive change in both the economic and social arena. The Republicans would have us go back to a time when people who need help the most were divided because of that. What makes Hillary, Elizabeth and the Dems exceptional is how they are working to harness that desire for economic and social justice and put together a coalition of everyone to make progress possible. I cannot imagine wanting to be anywhere but part of that momentum forward. The revolution is happening!
