There's "exile" profits to be made by making life miserable for their families back on their homeland.

Many other exploitive nefarious tourism and trade activities as well.

How could any Democratic candidate with true Democratic principles pander to these cretins in S Florida.

That both parties engage and support and pander to these intransigent sociopaths is what maintains this policy.

You are right. It is massively stupid.

But, the squeaky wheel gets the grease, and the Cuban "exiles" mewl and cry foul the loudest. The media ingratiates them and their lies and propaganda ... just as they do with tRumpsters/MAGA.

Why are we waging economic war, embargo, etc., on a small country who is our neighbor, just because, way back in the past, someone didn't like their government? It's dumb. We trade and allow travel with other countries, some just as close, who have worse governments. Get over it already!

Most of the Cubans who were of the age to participate and/or support the July 6 Movement (the Cuban revolutionaries, of which one was their brilliant orator, Fidel Castro) are gone now.

The majority of the current Cuban population was born after the 1959 Cuban Revolution.

Yet they are being collectively punished and abused by the US gov't for a wide range of reasons that represent nothing more than cruelty.

The Cubans, together with their government, have built out what modern countries have built ... universal health care, universal higher ed, a universal right to housing, universal right to vote.

Plus, Cuba's ratification of the ERA and ratification of the UDHR as part of the Cuban constitution.

The US has ratified neither, along with a few other dictatorships and kingdoms.

Thanks for recognizing how ridiculous it is.
