BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) In the crush of anti-government protests paralyzing downtown Buenos Aires in the last months, some Argentines saw a traffic-induced headache. Others saw a reaction to President Javier Mileis brutal austerity measures.
Alejandra, a street vendor, saw people with nowhere to urinate.
Plazas provided no privacy and cafes insisted on pricey purchases to use the toilet. With little more than a tent and a bucket, Alejandra started a small business that has surged alongside Argentinas angry rallies and sky-high inflation rate. She charges whatever people are willing to pay.
I havent had a job for a year, its now my sole income, said Alejandra, who declined to give her last name for fear of reprisals from neighbors. Every four or five patrons, she puts on gloves and empties her bucket into the trash.
The political establishments failure to fix decades of crisis in Argentina explains the tide of popular rage that vaulted the irascible Javier Milei, a self-declared anarcho-capitalist, to the presidency.

(566 posts)Yet other people are making obscene amounts of Billions that get wasted away on their most obscene lifestyles. It's a hard fact that I wish had an easy solution.
Imagine how many small washroom/shower trailer type units could be bought for numerous amounts of the poorest cities in the world with just a fraction of what the wealthiest top 500 make/own.
Are there any kinds of discussions like that going on in those get-aways the super wealthy take to schmooze??
Like I said, there are no easy solutions, but reading this just made me sad but glad for the people willing to help in some way to give a bit of dignity back to each other.
on edit: Logistics for water/power etc would need to be included in discussions. That again is another part of the challenge to help.

(162,406 posts)running out into the yards of huge homes at night while their sprinkler systems were soaking the lawns, and getting a chance at taking a quick shower, if they could avoid getting blown away by security employees! No anally obsessed home owner would lose a cent for that arrangement.
Wealthy people want the poor to stay out of sight and not give evidence of the astounding deep distance that permanently separates, protects, comforts, coddles and satiates them from birth to death.
They have no grasp of the struggling needed simply to survive by the great majority in the countries their oligarchs control.
Basic needs, like water, shelter, food, hygiene should be available for every single human being. What kind of monster could feel otherwise. . .
