there are no lies told by people claiming to know things not known to the public at large. However, I get the similarity - and remember the "mock" veterans for truth on Comedy Central and elsewhere in 2004 - such as the hamsters for truth and the spoof that used the true story that Kerry likely saved the life of a Republican Senator, who was chocking on food. (In fact, the SBVT may have made true versions of how they did the lies less believable because ultimately they were found to be dishonest. )
I hope the Romney/Gekko connection is not overplayed now. I think Romney will be the nominee and in a time where the Republicans are pretending that it is the democrats who are the friends of Wall Street and people blame Wall Street for a lot of the economic mess, Bain Capital is a mixed blessing for Romney.
The fact that Romney has taken the position that he was not involved with Wall Street, but was restructuring companies really does not work - and for those who saw Wall Street, that was a large part of what Gekko did. The ad Kennedy used was incredible and I would bet that the issue reaches more people in 2012 than in 1994, before most of the out sourcing jobs happened.
