John Kerry
Related: About this forumboston herald still sucks
Secretary of State John Kerry is spending a sun-splashed Fourth of July on Nantucket, even as a chaotic overthrow of the government rocks Egypt and continues to test diplomatic relations in Washington.
Kerry, who has just completed a 12-day, 2,500-mile trip to the Middle East and Asia, was with his daughters, their husbands and a security guard, the source said.
Kerrys staff insisted the former Bay State senator is fully engaged.
Since his plane touched down in Washington at 4 a.m., Secretary Kerry was working all day and on the phone dealing with the crisis in Egypt, Kerry spokeswoman Jen Psaki said in a statement. He participated in the White House meeting with the President by secure phone and was and is in non-stop contact with foreign leaders, and his senior team in Washington and Cairo.

The Herald is nothing more than a right wing rag aimed at the uniformed, typical Boston white, good ol boy sports nut.
Like the Record American (was) it is only useful if you have a summer camp in NH with an outhouse.

(27,315 posts)This does not make me more comfortable with the fourth estate. At least, I can think the Boston Herald is a bunch of idiots, but sadly, some guy on the Atlantic thought necessary to write a story about that. Because the guy knows enough to know it is crap, contrarily to the guys at the Herald, he explains what happened but somehow decides to blame Kerry for that (apparently, water sports are still a sport that he should not practice, though I do not know any other politician who is blamed for that). Absolutely stupid article, irritating because this is the Atlantic, not the Herald or the NYDailyNews, and the guy knows how stupid this is.

I loved your comments. As you said, and for the reasons you said, the article from the Atlantic was even more indefensible than the one in the Herald.
I liked the comment from "laurelhurstLiberal":
I was so annoyed I added a blog comment there. You have to register, but not too hard to do.. Just sayin'. .

(27,315 posts)They both have the same bias as the Atlantic, by which I mean, we know it is crap, but if we can have a cheap copy with this, why not.
The first one is a copy of the Herald one

But the State Departments initial denial only made it seem like Kerry was trying to hide something.
He doesnt have to sneak around, he deserves [a] working vacation, but his people are cagey about saying it, Al-Monitor reporter Laura Rozen tweeted.
Or may be reporters could report on things that are important?
This one has an interesting bias, as it compares the numerous days of Bush at his ranch to this incident, but at least, I think it comes from a good angle, but I still think they would have been better off not writing about this at all.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/she-the-people/wp/2013/07/06/should-john-kerry-stay-off-the-water/
Or, we could stop making a big deal out of officials at rest, counting the days George W. Bush spent on his ranch during his presidency and going crazy every time Obama hits a golf ball. Youd almost think we didnt believe in taking time off though if anything, it should be required.
Another stage of my allergy to journalists. At least, it seems that the Post puts the blame on his staff, but they should put it squarely on CBS and the Boston Herald, and not report on what rag sheets say.

Umm, I would really appreciate it if all these "brilliant" journalists focused on a Congress that has done nothing and is never in DC. Where was John BOehner this weekend??? Where is he EVERY long weekend?
The people in this country are hurting, and the Rethuglicans in Congress are on permanent vacation. That, like cutting brush, is apparently okay.
