(10,117 posts)... when he has a forum that allows full expression of his case. And full debate if he is doing Q and A. He made an excellent case for support of this deal.
Most detractors I have heard (in comment or on CSpan) have clearly NOT read or listened to a word Kerry has said.
Thanks for posting the link, MBS.
Edited to add...Lugar looked great!!

(9,688 posts)That they decided to be opposed before the deal was reached, and before they read the deal. That they based their decision on ignorance.
Infuriating.
They are on the wrong side of history, and I hope that all the opponents have a REALLY hard time with their re-election campaigns.

...to describe the shallow, predictable objections to the deal. Opponents' decision to be against the Iran Deal IS clearly based on ignorance...sort of like the voting patterns in November, 2004. People are ignorant of how this benefits them.
Maybe that is why Kerry doesn't rest on selling this to the people and to Congress. Even though he has the votes to prevent overriding a presidential veto, he is pushing all the way to the finish line for ALL the possible votes he can win.
He's competing as if this is a divisive election.

(59,942 posts)Lugar's introduction was wonderful and obviously sincere. His affection for the man he was on the SFRC with for 28 years was very obvious. It made me remember his kind words praising Kerry's first debate on foreign policy - which he said made the SFRC proud - when Kerry returned after Bush stole the vote in Ohio.
Seeing this, I wonder if there was a clear time when America could not see a diamond in the midst of so many cubic zirconium. This speech showed who he is - and he is a very exceptional person - as is the President who was brave enough to back this effort, fully knowing the political firestorm that would come if, against the odds, they succeeded.
Lugar did look great - and he still has that same genial smile. Kerry looked like he actually got some rest in the last few weeks -- and it looks like he no longer needs a cane (unless I missed something)
This could be an awesome month for Kerry - beyond Congress failing to stop the deal-- when the UN meets and when the Pope comes to DC.

(10,117 posts)...diamond/cubic zirconia reference. SO true!
This speech did truly show who he is and why he persists with diplomacy. Peace is better than war. I am so glad to hear him say that so loudly and clearly.
