Thanks so much for posting this! I notice a theme in JK's comments in the last year or so, by the way (maybe longer -- I was distracted). More and more, he's practically begging people to get involved and be active citizens. Once he got past the somewhat lame jokes and got to talking about that, I found this speech moving.

My apologies for being so slow to post in this forum, by the way. I'm still a dedicated JK supporter. I had a couple of years when I was very wrapped up in taking care of seriously ill family members, and just recently it took me quite a while to locate my DU password. But I'm glad to be here at last!

I have noticed that same theme and it seems to be one that he always goes to especially when young people are involved. He also used some of it when he gave a great speech on the need to get big money out of politics in the 1990s speaking of how our democracy has always depended on people being active citizens and trusting that they can be heard. To me, this represents a desire for the US to live up to its ideals and is extremely patriotic. Some how in the Republican fantasy with a past that never really existed they missed these (Norman Rockwell like) elements - not seeing how at odds the Koch brothers spending $400 million to help Romney is to that vision of America.
