one thing is to remember that there are some who will never get over the 2004 Primary. you still see this with some obama/hillary 2008 people. they just never will get over it.

there are some who are only "read the headline" types . they don't really look into issues. whatever is most important to them is whatever the media decides. these people are usually ignorant of specifics and mostly watch cable news shows.

there are certain people/things where if a person doesn't like it/them i have a low/negative opinion of them. and John Kerry is one of those people. if people don't like him i find fault with them . i'm not saying they are overall bad people but i value their opinion less and question them .

3. I was tempted to just echo Mass's reply, but instead ask why you continue to make the same point

even as it has been debunked repeatedly.

The OP postulates as given a premise that I do not agree with and which has been debunked often enough. It suffices to say that Obama/Biden have publicly given Kerry unusual foreign policy responsibilities and have included him prominently in the Obama re-election - signalling that he is both the chief foreign policy surrogate and a key player in debate practice. Those are reality, the op is NOT.

The comment that is referred to is true - Bush et al did manage to convince enough people to believe their caricature of Kerry. This was done by heinous lies on his military service to counter the way it positively defined Kerry's character and they used the flip flop meme - helped by Kerry's unfortunate language - even though his record showed his values were consistent over his whole public career. The Kerry campaign was given almost no platform by a biased media to refute those characterizations even though the first amounted to character assassination when the official record was widely available and backed Kerry. Note the media NEVER asked the SBVT to supply any proof - even though they were the ones disputing the official record. The second was ordinary politics and without the former likely would have carried little weight.

No one is saying that Obama should really follow Bush's example and lie to create a negative image for Romney to counter the positive - successful businessman, saver of the Olympics (ignoring the federal aid and that it was necessary to get a new "head" because the SLC officials who headed it were so tainted by then. They needed someone new - not involved - and Romney, a prominent Mormon businessman with political aspirations was a win/win choice for SLC. ) They are doing it by getting their view of what Bain did out there. I suspect this will be followed by using the flip flop charge in a way that will make the Bush use look minor - as they can show Romney has changed on nearly everything.

8. That's because the pundits were comparing campaigns

There is a vast difference between Senator Kerry, the politician, the man, the advocate; and John Kerry's 2004 presidential campaign. It upsets me, too to see the pundits comparing the Romney campaign's ineptitude to Senator Kerry's campaign. While the latter had its gaffes and problems, JK as a candidate was likeable,(albeit not as loose and at ease as Obama) and drew huge crowds. Romney, otoh, is as likeable as a crocodile.

As to comparing each election outcome, I still believe JK won and was robbed, whereas if anything, Romney will lose and steal this upcoming election.

But Sista, no pundits are dissing JK's work as Senator. He always garners admiration and praise and I've never heard any different.

9. Thanks, you stated it better than I would have.

punditry is a plague, whether it comes from TV pundits or wannabee pundits, but it should never be confused with the opinion of real people, or the general opinion of people who do not think their opinion matters.

11. Thank you for stating it so clearly

Kerry's kids and step kids were great in increasing the number of people who saw him as likable - whether they voted for him or not. It is interesting that one source that has provided more and more reason to see Romney as completely unlikable has been his kids. I seriously doubt that supposedly intelligent, successful adults had no idea those stories would have that result. (I really don't think this is a case of the different values in the two parties - these are antisocial mean things that they spoke of.)

I hope we can keep Romney from buying or stealing the election.

12. and it was Kerry himself in the debates who put the lie to all the media whores, right wingers

and anyone else who had attacked him by showing who he really was and what a far better person he was .

you think Romney will be able to do that ? he couldn't do that against weak, hateful losers in the republican primary. there is no way he will be able to do that against Obama. the biggest reason being Romney is truly not likable and really isn't something good .

13. Can you imagine Romney NOT showing either anger or distain for an entire debate?

With little provocation, he was clearly seething with anger.

Kerry was remarkable in not letting Bush's weird behavior shake him - and he was well prepared on everything because he really knew the issues in depth. Romney will have neither of these traits.
