Related: About this forumWe bought new furniture in August...
We wanted leather, hoping it would last a long time. We are retired and just the two of us, so our furniture is not "punished". We looked at Macy's and the salesperson told us to make sure we got leather and not bonded leather. We appreciated her advice and decided that we would go to a locally owned furniture store where we had purchased furniture before. I explained to the owner that I wanted leather, not bonded. He assured me that the couch and love seat we purchased (Lane Furniture) was leather. Yesterday, after only 4 months, we found a spot on the front of the couch (a place that is never touched), was losing its color and peeling. We are heading to the furniture store tomorrow with pictures. Obviously he lied to us. We are furious. What is the best way to handle this?

(5,860 posts)We purchase bonded leather furniture for our winter condo for the same reason as you. Two people using it for five months a year. No pets near it ever. Two years later, it began to peel off in little pieces. In places not really where we sat or touched. We're denied any claim because we were beyond the two year warranty date by a month. A really bad product. Had to get new stuff. Hope this helps.

(4,463 posts)This is a store that sells high end furniture. We just cannot believe he lied to us, we had purchased there before. We always support local businesses but I am sorry that I didn't buy from Macy's., where the salesperson warned us about bonded leather.

Which is? Refund, store credit, or ?
Signing off for a while, so best luck!
