I received the most amazing "Gift Package" from..."Boys Town"

...I have ..never.. given to Boys Town, and never will. I do give to some other charities, but someone sold my name and address to "Boys Town"...A calander, pictures, crossword puzzles, diary, and more. Mail stickers on and on. All in an attempt to get me to give a donation.
... So much so that I would feel guilty if I didn't give to this charity. I will throw all of this stuff out. But I suspect one of those I did give to, sold my name, or traded it to "Boys Town." This package was a "trick" & it won't work for me. The most stuff I have ever gotten from a charity in order to get me to give, and give a lot. OH, and I will be receiving a call to follow up. After all .....It is Christmas Time...!!!

idea, and only one idea..guilt.

....It is several dollars worth of sh*t, so you will at least send a few dollars to cover the cost of the sh*t. If I get a call from them, maybe I will just say ..Fuck You!. And then hang up...

...... That will stop them from calling me again.......maybe...

but they passed it around freely.

I save the greeting cards I receive for a 1st grade teacher I know. Her students cut them up and use them in various art projects throughout the year. My grandkids like the animal and flower stickers and i use the address stickers to mark books that I loan out.

I make charitable donations throughout the year, but I can't support every institution that sends solicitations.

so that it gets used instead of just putting it in a landfill? I used a donate Boy's Town calendar when I was homeless, it helped keep all my appointments and responsibilities straight. I kept it in my backpack and it was a crucial element in my life. I was working and sleeping in my vehicle and I didn't have money to buy anything. An HR lady at the place where I worked brought them in and left them in the break room, it wasn't long before they were all scooped up.

In my town we have a community thrift store where stuff like that ends up but also gets used.
