U.S. payments firms Visa Inc (V.N) and Mastercard Inc on Saturday said they were suspending operations in Russia over the invasion of Ukraine, and that they would work with clients and partners to cease all transactions there.
Within days, all transactions initiated with Visa cards issued in Russia will no longer work outside of the country and any Visa cards issued outside of Russia will no longer work within the country, the company said.
U.S. President Joe Biden, in a call with Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, welcomed Visa's and Mastercard's decisions to suspend their operations in Russia, the White House said.

(52,262 posts)Putin is going to be even more pissed off since his citizens are going to be more pissed off. Good!!! Fuck Putin!!! If a million Russians start protesting then Putin will begin to see that he is not able to control their anger. You can't arrest 1 million people (this is what an analyst was saying on CNN...this will definitely effect Putin and his decision making).

(52,262 posts)He is going to make statements like that thinking the rest of the world believes a word he says when all he does is lie and go back on his word over and over and over. He likes to think that his words matter more than they do. Next he'll say donating to orphaned animals in Ukraine is an act if war, donating to World Kitchens is an act of war, picking you nose and scratching your ass is an act of war, etc. Meaningless threats from a failed leader/loser.
This just shows how the walls are closing in on him. He normally wouldn't make such ridiculous and meaningless statements. He is mentally freaking out and lashing out. Pathetic at best.

(22,850 posts)As you know, psychopaths often are - eventually.
I mean, there he was: king of the proverbial hill (in Russia, anyway); the presidency seemed his for life, if he wanted it.
Only one thing could ruin it all: his ordering some Brezhnev-style invasion - getting into a new "Vietnam." And here we are.
So the day he falls, before he puts his gun in his mouth and pulls the trigger, I hope it'll dawn on him that it could have all been avoided - with a little self-control.
Sad Vlad, they'll call him: the author of his own undoing.
