Starbucks' slumping sales

Did you see the news? Bloomberg reports that Starbucks’ sales are slumping, costing the company nearly $12 billion.

Customers and Starbucks’ own workers have had it with bad leadership decisions in addition to an illegal union-busting campaign that has included more than 300 violations of federal labor law, including 38 unlawful firings, refusing to bargain, and unlawfully providing non-union workers higher wages and better benefits than workers who have sought to unionize, among other anti-worker tactics.

cut back on the more creative merchandising they once did, including coffee/espresso machines and accessories--some of which were once pretty cutting-edge. Now they just have the ubiquitous mugs and cups that are not so unique and the stores lack any inviting reason to sit down and consume. I'm ignoring the steep price rises there, but the former was at least a reason to stop in now and then if only to gawk. Occasionally I'd see something worthy of purchasing and if I couldn't find it at one or other stores, could find it online, along with some coffee that might have been only a seasonal availability. The latter online option has stopped altogether and their website seems nothing more than an advertisement. Plus, they push ordering/paying in the app, so the stores cease to have much of any purpose other than to house the drive-through. Meh.
