More than 140 caregivers for elderly awarded $5.5 million after being paid $2 an hour

More than $5 million has been awarded to 148 workers who claim they were victims of wage theft. Most of them work as primary caregivers for the elderly.

They are former employees of Adat Shalom Residential Care for the Elderly, and many of them are immigrants from the Philippines.

According to the Pilipino Workers Center, Adat Shalom has rebranded to Land of the Peace assisted living facility. According to Sinagtala Limbo, a former Adat Shalom employee, they had her working 24 hours a day.

At Adat Shalom, workers were paid at range of $2.40 to $2.80 per hour with no over time, no benefits," said Pilipino Workers Center Executive Director Aquilina Soriano Versoza.

Huge win.

2. I agree it should be more, but it sets a precedent and does really help those who lived on $2 an hour.

4. Not a huge win at all, a bargain still for Adat Shalom. Unionize. The lawyers got 30% to 50% plus expenses.

... one person is responsible for this outrage. What justice did he face, past a higher though still significantly discounted wage adjustment.

You ought to look at their website: https://www.mycaringplan.com/senior-living/adat-shalom-manor/ They stole from their workers, for Pete's sakes.
