Hi.. I'm employed, but on the hunt...

Here's why:

I have been looking for a job just practically forever. I had previously worked for Lockheed Martin in 2001, but due to circumstances on my background check, I was let go due to my inability to even obtain the basic (confidential) clearance. It happened in Tucson, and 3 months into the job after a transfer out from Denver. I almost landed a job in Pittsburgh doing what I was doing previously after 3 months of searching, and was ready to fly out for the final meet, but the next day a hiring freeze occured, and never heard from again. 9/11 happened, and I was still unemployed up until March of 2002, when my lease was up, and moved back to Denver. Housing arrangement was done (and still live here to this day), went to work for my dad doing independent computer consulting, part time while collecting SSDI, so we could live modestly. We had a very steady business up until 2005, then it started to dry up a little bit, but we had a side business being a condo ISP, and we do installs and tech support, so it was also a steady business. We had lost one building in Phoenix due to some HOA disagreements (and it's still in dispute), but in total we have 5 buildings, (1 apartment complex, 4 condos) to manage under contract. Although I don't know why, but business is slow (I guess being an ISP isn't all that cracked up), and my dad is kind of trying to wind down himself, he always said the business was mine if I want it. However, he has been paying me while he was ill with cancer, and business was almost down to nil except for the condo ISP business, so in a sense, I feel that I've been hanging on to my dad and straining his finances. I want him to decide on what he wants to do with the business, because if he wants to give it to me, then I need to get involved in this role more, but in the meantime, since the original business is all but dried up, I have begun looking for contract jobs.

I have posted my resume, and have gotten contacts - a LOT of contacts, mainly for jobs that aren't even remotely close to my area, or in the wrong field - I'm a system administrator by trade, can do Linux, Unix, Windows, but I am _NOT_ a developer. Engineer, maybe, but not a developer.

So if anyone outside of my area are admins, and want me to forward any jobs to them, just respond to this thread. Even IT people can speak up - developers, admins, engineers, Q&A, whatever - let me know, and I will forward what I get. Mind you, these people who send me job descriptions are usually from an recruiter who constantly send me jobs that aren't even remotely close to me.

How do I put it this way - I think recruiters outsourced their work to India - I'm getting calls and emails from Indian recruiters - that isn't right. But, I guess that's how the companies keep it on the cheap.

I'm sorry for rambling, but just wanted to put all my thoughts in the job thing down.
