It seems like its getting better

I've been unemployed for months now. Months of applying for any job I could find. No luck, just standard "thanks for applying, we'll let you know" e-mails/phone calls. But, I've had 2 in-person interviews and two phone interviews in the last week and a half. I went to an interview today (part-time, no benefits), they told me they wanted to hire me, but thought I was over qualified. Then they did something completely unexpected. I was interviewing with 2 managers and one left the room and came back with jobs with their company that they thought I would like more, ie, full time, benefits, better pay, more responsibility. They said they'd e-mail the people responsible for hiring for those positions and suggest they interview me for the open positions. When I got home, I already had an e-mail from them on how to officially apply for the jobs. I'm a pessimist by nature, but it seems like its getting better.

I don't know if it will lead to a job, but to everyone out there in my shoes, keep on trying.

"Over qualified" is one of the worst things you can hear. I KNOW I CAN DO MORE, BUT THIS IS ALL I CAN FIND NOW. I hate explaining that to people. But bills have to be paid. And yes, I will leave your company if someone is willing to pay me $5 or $10 more an hour with benefits ( 2 weeks notice of course)., but you aren't hiring for that. We are in a job market that favors the people hiring and not the people looking for a job.

I'm in the same boat (jobless) after a 6 month illness and I'm scared to death and resentful. Not a good state to get back on my feet.

I just realized you wrote this in 2013 -- I hope things turned out well for you.
