Done! Directed TurboTax to e-file my fed and state returns

The weasels. First they wanted my feedback which was positive, and then offered a free credit report. Had no way of skipping it. And then tried to offer all kind of "financial tools" and, again, without the "skip it" button. I finally just signed out.

Oh, and on our 2017 return, effective Marginal tax was 7.46%. This year - 8.25%..

Yes, income was higher, with the small raise in SS and RMDs which are the product of the high stock market at the end of 2017 and the smaller denominator as we get a year older. Still, eliminating the exemptions are a major factor.

Glad that it is done.

I DO NOT want to file my state return using it, and you have to be real careful or it will “automatically” do so, and charge you for it of course. Got caught in that the first year I used TurboTax. Pennsylvania state tax is ridiculously simple and it’s free to file directly online on the state site.

At first I thought it did it wrong, and was going to do state tax on my own, but it is not free, not for our level of income, so the alternative was going to be mail paper return.

Finally figured it out, TurboTax was correct.

This will be the second year that Minnesota has not adapted its return to the new Federal code. Hope they will get it, eventually.
