Are they trying to tell us something?

Yesterday in the mail, from Vanguard Form 5498 for 2019. Haven't we got it? Well, no. It is IRA contribution information, oh, the $1,000 rolled over to Roth in December.

But then there is a note: The following information applies only if the IRA owner identified on the enclosed form 5498 passed away last year. How to Obtain the Date of Death Fair Market Value (FMV) of a Decedent's IRA.

Oh-Kay..

Also in yesterday's mail, statement from Well Fargo VISA. Several additional pages (all our correspondence are via U.S. mail): Changes effective October 1, 2020: Closed Credit Card and Forfeiture in the Case of Cardholder Death..

Again, are they trying to tell us something?

Or maybe you've reached a certain age milestone.

I got one of those too from Vanguard, yesterday, and it was a 5498 for a Roth conversion, with that "death" notice. Bizzare. I'd think in the special once-in-a-lifetime situation where whoever is delving into your (or my) statements because you (or I) passed would call Vanguard anyway.

My credit card stuff is all online, so I'll have to delve into the last online statement to see if there's some "death" notice in that. Ditto bank statement.
