(46,971 posts)Benjamin Graham - intrinsic value. Undervalued assets. The great investors know this. I doubt 1.5% of "advisors" pay it any heed, and surely few of those who work the sales side of the business, even with an SEC license.

(52,729 posts)because my niece and nephew (who I adore) went to work for the companies.
Only two, and not too much money in either, but I lost about 80% on both. And both relatives have since left the companies. (One, for example, was Wayfair.)
Your post makes me feel better.

(40,089 posts)The big money return in crypto is:::
1. Starting it, hyping it, and getting out, leaving the suckers holding the bag.
2. Handling/storing it for others.
A few have profited by 'investing' but not the majority.

(57,338 posts)When Obama was POTUS, GM filed for bankruptcy and was doomed.
The stock went to penny stock and was basically worthless.
I was 100% certain that Obama would bail out GM, even though no one else thought so at the time.
So I called the guy who handles my retirement account and told him to buy GM stock.
I had never called him before to buy stock, he was aware I had no understanding of investment.
So he argued with me.
I told him this was not a financial, but politics, I knew what Obama was going to do.
At any rate, I made a little bit of money on the deal because Obama did bail out GM.
But it is too nerve wracking to play with retirement money like that.
So I never did it again.
