He did his bachelor degree in the US and could not stand the idea of increasing his student debt with a Master in an American university.

He has basically done his first year for $500, health insurance included and about $100 a month for a bedroom-kitchenette-bathroom (it is $400 but he is getting some subsidies because he is a student). No loans.
