2. I know, there is so much to keep track of that we need to worry about that it's tough to absorb it all at once

Their response is to incease their campaign of misinformation and funding of politicians who oppose any legislation that would cut into their profits.

5. Because governments thinking they can change it is ridiculous

Our atmosphere knows no borders, China opens a coal fired power plant every week & India increases their coal generated power every year too. Temps aren't going down no matter WHAT we do so plan for the consequences & sell your beachfront property. At some point, long after we are gone, the earth will cool itself down again.

I've said before, the jury is still out on the evolutionary advantages of human intelligence.

7. China. A country fighting climate change driven desertification tooth and nail.

At the same time increasing their biblical amounts of CO2 emissions. They're going to lose the fight. And we always thought the Chinese think in far longer blocks of time than the West, making them somehow smarter. That may be but still doesn't shield them from cataclysmic blunders. Instead of fighting for industrial resources, the next major wars will be over food and water. Probably the reasons for the first wars our species fought.

8. The first world will not be inconvenienced.

The sacrifices needed by every citizen of the first world are unfathomable to people who’ve known relative ease and comfort their entire lives. Just the logistics of such an undertaking would require social and cultural upheavals never seen before in such large populations.

So, we get Trumped, there are invasions, cultural wars, and human shenanigans galore, some extremely portentous, to distract us. But, there is nothing which compares to climate catastrophe. Who wouldn’t respond with denial and avoidance.

Now, the ramifications of humanity’s inability or unwillingness to act pushes unavoidable dystopia upon our next generations. Sorry kids, we fucked it up, but you must deal the best you can. Our hope going forward is that some lesser part of our populations will adapt, and that will be a bit of a mad scramble.

You see it differently? How so?

If anyone is supposed to give up certain tings in the name of reducing emissions then EVERYONE should give up those same things. And thats why none of this will EVER work.

14. So many reasons....

The first is that people have to hear about in order to listen. The media is focused on everything else; Trumps latest schtick, politicians crazy rants, local sports, national sports, TV, movies, the price of chicken, vacation ideas, concerts, and on and on. How many hours were devoted to Hunter Biden, his fate means nothing to us.

Second people for the most part don't see anything amiss. The sun comes up, it rains, it doesn't rain, the beach vacation is just fine, the park looks nice. Why worry. A little bit like the frog in water brought to a boil.

There has been about 45 years of climate messaging ranging from we're all going to die to it's all bullshit. People tune out.

Practically nobody thinks about what might happen in ten months much less ten or a hundred years. Too bad grandkids if it doesn't work out.

We all live on a sword's edge of nuclear war. That's never mentioned.

Ignorance is bliss.
