Frugal summertime refreshment drinks

Black Tea

A box of 100 black tea bags from Family Dollar costs $1.00. I put 12 bags in 1.5 quarts of boiling water, let sit for awhile, remove bags an pour the tea into a gallon container partly filled with ice. I top that off with cold tap water and add a couple of good squirts of RealLemon Juice. An 8 oz. cup costs about a penny.

Homemade Gatorade

1/8 cup sugar
1/8 cup ReaLemon Juice
2 Tablespoons of honey
1/4 teaspoon of sea salt
6 3/4 cups cold water divided

Instructions

In a saucepan stir sugar, ReaLemon juice, 3/4 cup water, honey, and sea salt over medium heat until the sugar, honey and salt dissolve.
Pour mixture into 6 cups of cold water.
Shake to combine.
Chill mixture in the fridge until ready to serve.

Homemade Gatorade with 100% juice

Ingredients

1 cup 100% juice
2 Tablespoons honey
¼ teaspoon sea salt (I use Redmond)
6 cups cold water

Instructions

In a saucepan stir juice, honey, and sea salt over medium heat until the honey and salt dissolve. Pour mixture into 6 cups of cold water.
Shake to combine.
Chill mixture in the fridge until ready to serve.

have you tried it with green tea
supposed to be better for ya

might try to modify to half gallon size....
more fridge friendly
does the salt serve a purpose other than taste?
I try to limit my sodium intake with possible.
when i bake bread i generally reduce the salt by about a third.
Seems it does something with the leavening so it needs some salt.....
was raised in a sodium restricted household....grand father had heart problem.
so we just never used salt growing up.....

The sea salt is to replace sodium and other trace elements lost when engaged in sports or hard physical work.
