We do like steak once an awhile perhaps twice a month.

What about pork? Is that an environmentally safe meat? We do eat pork frequently.

And I refuse to cook it. Hubby has to make his own burgers.

It's not a health issue with me - it's just that since I grew up on a farm with baby calves to fed (their Moms were milked), I formed a loving attachment to the little critters and the thought of killing and eating them, young or old, sickened me. My siblings also still feel the same.

Could anyone here eat their pets?

I grew up in absolute poverty Appalachia. I still live in the mountains but my lifestyle is no longer to desperate.

I do hunt sometimes, but as far as meat I mostly eat fish (trout and tilapia) from my aquaponics system. This was a cost /health move I will eat a burger, it don't bother me, I just don't go out of my way to get at them anymore.

Quail is occasionally on the .menu also, when my layers get too old to lay (about 24 months old). Eggs are to my larger protein intake

I'll eat it if served, just won't buy it in the store, I have my reasons.
Anyway, I can't stand those highly processed veggie burgers, yuk.
My go to burger is a large Portobello shroom with a little goat cheese on it. Nuke it for a minute or two and then slap it on a nonwhite bread bun. Just a little mustard for looks.
Might give it a try.
