Amtrak has named Richard Anderson, the former chief executive of Delta and Northwest airlines, as its new president and CEO.
The announcement comes less than a year into the tenure Charles W. Wick Moorman, who took over as the passenger railroads chief executive in September 2016. In a recent meeting with The Washington Posts editorial board, Moorman had indicated that his role would be to serve as a transitional CEO, working to reorganize and streamline Amtraks operations before turning it over to new leadership.

Anderson will begin his new job July 12 just a few days after Amtrak launches an ambitious rebuilding program at New Yorks Pennsylvania Station. As part of the transition, he and Moorman will serve as co-CEOs through Dec. 31, 2017, officials said.

(34,661 posts)This Slug will set Amtrak up to be given to Phil Anschutz who owns Union Pacific Railroad. This Anschutz has been waiting years for this. One of the people who is stopping Californians from getting high speed rail service both between LA and SF as well as LA to Vegas.
BTW,Anderson did a real trip on the folks at NWA as well as Delta. Kiss this thing good bye.
Your Amtrak Trip today will be sponsored by your friends at Comcast.

BTW,Anshutz has been able to accumulate Dozens of Passenger Coaches for his Privatized operations. There are stored in California and some in South Eastern Colorado. Rail Fans have been eye balling these for years.
