(16,916 posts)I make a mean BBC mock ribs, fried mock chicken, and a great mock fish.
But I really want is just to sell what folks want to eat.

(11,417 posts)Add raw foods like salads, tomatoes, and cooked veggies you got some thing.
There is a veggie burger place in Santa Cruz. They took over a Sonic or something and replaced meat items with veggie meat. I was pleasantly surprised to find it on a weekend trip.

(34,408 posts)a little of each. While I agree with lunasun above I would guess that nobody or very few people became vegetarians because they hate meat. I have never understood why anyone cares, it seems just another way to try to make you feel badly about not eating meat.
Sometimes you just want a sandwich that is like a hamburger. You can go with veggies but why not let someone have the choice of fake meat. I happen to like some of the stuff.
Whatever you do will be great. I will die before I ever even see a vegetarian restaurant where I live. There are some with choices but I end up eating a lot of french fries and broccoli around here.
Good for you, have fun and let us know how it goes and where it is. If I am ever through there I will stop in and support it.

(18,318 posts)Damned good burgers & tacos (as well as sit-down meals). Price? In line with other blue plate prices! One of the hottest spots in Austin, and haven't spent a dime in ads in nearly 15 yrs.
And I'm an omnivore.

(93,444 posts)good veggie-food and to hell with meat substitutes. One role you could play is showing people how good no meat is while not faking it and keeping up the facade of meat gratification.

(14,691 posts)I like fake meat too. I knew someone who wouldn't eat vegan Boca Burgers because they were too "meat-like."

(49,212 posts)Ideally I'd like to see both on a menu. Personally I don't have a problem with substitutes (especially high quality DIY versions- I make insanely good ones myself) but sometimes I'm really not in the mood for them.

(38,585 posts)It's my favorite comfort food that takes me back to Thanksgiving dinner. ~slurp. Another one I like is Gimme Lean sausage & make biscuits & gravy, just like grandma used to make. I don't have these dishes often, but I enjoy them when I do.
My all time favorite meal is my veggie green chile sauce. It is so frickin' good over bean burritos, rice with garbanzo beans or all alone.
Good luck with your restaurant.

(2,219 posts)They're tasty. I don't fool myself into thinking that they're particularly healthy, but occasionally, I'm really in the mood for a burger.
