Has anyone tried jackfruit in lieu of shredded chicken in recipes?

I have seen shredded jackfruit as a replacement for meat in pulled meat sandwiches or salads and was wondering if anyone has ever tried it.

What is the texture like? Does it take seasoning well?

I tried making it at home and it sucked. Take that for what you will.

I especially like the barbecue options and tacos.

I use jackfruit with low-cal, low-carb noodles and rice for a complete meal!

I will have to see about ordering some

I love BBQ, but nothing really has the same "mouth feel" as shredded meat. It is one of the only things I miss, can't wait to try it

I finally tried it. It's awful. It's like eating semi-liquid meat. Virtually no taste except whatever seasoning is added. Texture is like disappearing yogurt. It's so soft that it's almost non-existent when eaten. The flavor isn't bad, but there's nothing to it...nothing to chew because it melts (for lack of a better word) instantly.

I threw it out after trying it every way I could think of...out of the package, frying it, adding it to rice and sautéing it, etc.

So, in answer to the OP... Texture doesn't exist. Seems to take seasoning well.
