(7,911 posts)I've been plant based for many years now, and I never felt better. At 72 I feel better now, and have more strength and energy, than I did 20 years ago.
(I prefer the term "plant-based" for myself because my decision to avoid all animal products and refined oils has everything to do with health and almost nothing to do with animal rights. Don't get me wrong, I despise cruelty to animals, but I also wear leather shoes and a leather belt. And besides, diet coke and potato chips is "vegan", but terrible for you. So the word "vegan" doesn't really tell the story of how I eat.)

(24,831 posts)I see what happens when people don't get better from a whole foods vegan diet. I felt that the movie did great with human rights and animal rights. But, the cure for everything meme it put out I believe is untrue.
If someone comes to me and says they watched it and want to become vegan I will encourage them to become vegan. But, I will also tell them to take B12 and to not expect miracles. If they get healthier that's wonderful. But, a lot of people don't.

I'm genuinely interested, not just looking for a fight. Thank you for your hospice work. I don't think I could ever do that, and I'm thankful that people are better than me in that regard.
