Almond Milk Labeling Not Deceptive, Federal Court Says (veg group)
Cynthia Painter alleged the products should be labeled imitation milk because they substitute for and resemble dairy milk but are nutritionally inferior to it.
But Painter didnt allege a plausible claim, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit said Dec. 20 in an unpublished opinion.
Consumers wouldnt be duped into believing that Blue Diamonds almond milk products are nutritionally equivalent to dairy milk based on their package labels and advertising, the court said.

For angry omnivores who come here people don't think peanut butter is butter. People know peanut butter doesn't come from cows. People know oat milk, almond milk, soy milk etc are not from cows. I think most people who don't drink cow's milk do it because of lactose intolerance more than animal rights or climate change.

(6,907 posts)She says it is "nutritionally inferior" but we live in a time and land of plenty. Most of our health problems today aren't caused by not enough food, they are caused by too much food. Some of us benefit from the much lower calories of unsweetened almond milk vs. even skim milk, not to mention cholesterol and the heart benefits of almonds.

(4,187 posts)In fact, nutritionally inferior is a lie. How can something that contains cholesterol be considered nutritionally superior to something that doesnt when excess cholesterol is the main cause of heart disease and Alzheimers disease?
(Anyone who still supports the torture and horror perpetrated by the factory farm industry with his or her hard-earned money and is tempted to attack me over the cholesterol claim should do their own research. Medical researchers established the link between cholesterol and Alzheimers disease over a decade ago, and the link between cholesterol and heart disease decades before that. There is a way to prevent heart attacks and Alzheimers: its to go vegan, and its a lot easier than people think. Just think of the pain and suffering you will spare your loved ones.)
