Petition Target:
San Bernardino Police Department
Ember, a three-month-old black Lab puppy, was set on fire and abandoned in San Bernardino, California, in what appears to have been a purposeful act of animal cruelty according to the city's Animal Services Department.
The defenseless puppy suffered excruciatingly painful wounds to her face, ears, paws and groin -- most likely the result of being set on fire, according to to the vet who first treated her.
Photos of the horrific injuries show bright red, torched skin where her fur looks to have been set aflame.
The severely burned puppy was found abandoned in an office parking lot alongside another three-month-old Labrador Retriever mix puppy, as reported by KTLA News 5.
When the City of San Bernardino's Animal Services Department found the puppies, they rushed the dogs to a vet out of concern for Ember's gruesome injuries.

(106,340 posts)killing of pet or other animals ("for convenience" ). It may start with some BS suggestion that this is "necessary" in rural life-- falsely and ignorantly conflated with the practical need to send food animals to slaughter or to hunt wildlife for food, it doesn't end with a Kristi Noem. Who knows who would have been so cruel in this puppy's case, but I just know it doesn't decrease such incidents if we do not send a strong and consistent message. Society cannot allow this any more than we can turn away from such cruelty to people.
