Video of Palestinian father taunting Israeli police to shoot his young son just got worse

A Palestinian father, in front of a professional Palestinian videographer, pushed his young child towards Israeli Border Police, yelled at the son to throw rocks (which he did in a childish way), and then taunted the police to shoot the child so that the cameras could capture the killing.

As if that weren’t bad enough, Palestinian television then promoted the video, but left out a crucial piece where the border policeman and the child exchange a “high five” — which is contrary to the image promoted of a hostile interaction between the police and the child. It was a moment in which the father’s attempt to taunt the police into harming the child was met with humanity.

I'm not saying it was right that the Palestinian father tried to get the Israeli soldier to shoot Tony_FLADEM Aug 2016 #1

What evidence is there that the man was the child's father? n/t aranthus Aug 2016 #3

his kid. However, there are instances of Palestinian young people being shot by Israeli solders. For example, this: http://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/.premium-1.728126

The Israeli soldiers probably knew there was a camera so he acted accordingly. This doesn't disprove mistreatment of Palestinian Civilians.

I'm certain that, if the cameras hadn't been rolling the Israeli soldier would have riddled the kid in a second.

I'm just saying that all I see on the vid is man egging a kid on to get himself killed. That's bad enough without the man being the kid's father. If the man is really a relative, then that takes the situation to a level of evil that is truly hard to fathom.

snatching someone's kid and doing this, or doing it to your own kid, or your nephew. Each one is worse than the other.

But I can understand someone evil enough to sacrifice a child for a propaganda boost. I can't understand someone willing to sacrifice their own child for a few seconds on the six o'clock news.
