Saudi Judo Competitor Forfeits Match To 'Avoid Israel' In Next Round: Reports

http://www.newsweek.com/saudi-judo-competitor-forfeits-match-avoid-israeli-next-round-reports-488342

A Saudi judo competitor pulled out of her first-round match at the Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro on Sunday, ahead of a prospective second-round bout tie with an Israeli rival. However, Israeli and Saudi accounts offered different reasons for Joud Fahmy’s withdrawal.

Israeli press reports claimed Fahmy decided to leave the competition because she could meet Gili Cohen, a 25-year-old five-time Israeli champion, in the next round if she managed to secure a victory against Christianne Legentil from Mauritius.

But the Saudi Olympic Delegation tweeted that Fahmy’s withdrawal from the games was because of injuries she had picked up in training, and not for political reasons. The Saudi medical team had advised her not to participate, the tweet said.

After reading this article:

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2016/aug/08/olympics-israel-lebanese-athletes-refuse-share-bus

I'll never believe any of them when it concerns the Olympics and Israel ever again.

From the article:
Israeli Olympians have criticised the Lebanese delegation for an altercation over transport to the opening ceremony, saying it went against the spirit of the Games.

Israeli athletes were blocked from boarding a bus packed with Lebanese athletes in Rio de Janeiro on Friday in what the head of the Israeli delegation, Gili Lusting, construed as an aggressive gesture.

They should have told the Lebanese to get the fuck out and not let them compete.

was anything but muted. Do athletes actually have to be murdered before people will speak out?

Is it just that the thought of losing to the Israeli's is such a humiliation, they need to come up with excuses not to compete against them?

13. Networks Omit Anti-Israel Bullying by Muslim Nations at Rio Olympics

The silence says it all.

The Washington Times and the Jerusalem Post were very lonely in reporting that Muslim animosity toward Israel’s 47-member Olympic delegation has triggered a reprimand from the International Olympic Committee and protest from Jewish groups such as the Anti-Defamation League, which issued a statement this week decrying anti-Israel “hostility” in Rio de Janeiro.

None of the networks – especially NBC, the channel hosting the Olympics – seemed to notice at all on their newscasts. They can all champion the Muslim-American fencer, and then ignore the Muslim abuse of Israel. The Jerusalem Post reported the trouble began on the way to the opening ceremonies....

...Where is the diversity-and-inclusion crowd from NBC? If a country blocked a set of LGBT athletes from boarding a bus, they would have had a fit. But bullying Israel is apparently acceptable. The Times of Israel added that in judo, a Saudi competitor forfeited before having to face an Israeli.
