Likud leader starts effort to woo votes from parties on Right.

3 minute read.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu began a campaign over the weekend to take seats away from the Likuds satellite parties on the Right, in an effort to win more seats for Likud than Blue and White in Tuesdays election, and ensure that President Reuven Rivlin will ask him to form the next government.
As part of that effort, in an interview with Channel 12 on Saturday night, Netanyahu vowed to annex territories in settlements and evacuate the illegal West Bank herding village of Khan Al-Ahmar, if he wins another term.
We are dealing (with the Americans) on exercising Israeli sovereignty on Maaleh Adumim and other things, Netanyahu said. Everyone understands the next term will be fateful for guaranteeing our security and our control over key territory in Judea and Samaria.
In weekend interviews with Channel 13 and the right-wing Makor Rishon and Israel Hayom newspapers, Netanyahu vowed to not permit a single settlement or a single resident of them to be evacuated.
That (evacuation) will not be happening, he told Channel 13. If thats the plan, there will be no plan.

..look on the bright side
At least Moshe Feiglin and Naftali Bennett didnt make it , two of the most dangerous right wing
political religious extremist we have .
sabbat hunter
(6,893 posts)United Right did, and that contains Kahanists. I think that alone makes them more dangerous than Bennett.
and the showings of Meretz and Labor were putrid. 6 for labor, 4 for Meretz Horrid. The people that voted for them should have voted for Blue and white instead, and Israel might be in a far different place.
Now they are going to do what I didn't think was possible, be even more right wing than the last one, with the United Right entering the coalition.

(4,300 posts)Both Bennett and Moshe Feiglin are wolves dressed as lambs , at least the Kahanists are honest .
Now you know the size of the true Israeli Left that isn't willing to sell itself or its believes and ideology
to yet another flash in the pan Centralist .
I always knew it was possible , did not believe for one moment even when Benny Gantz was touting himself
as the next PM before all the votes were counted .
For those on here that perhaps are confused by it all :

(6,893 posts)Israel is stuck with Bibi for another term. His coalition partners may make him immune from prosecution.
The left has collapsed based on how Labor and Meretz did.

..got their extra votes from this time ?
They got them from Labor and Meretz silly .
We are not a two party system like America .
Have you any idea how many parties ran this time ?
How many votes were lost to idiotic parties that didn't have the chance
to pass the threshold .
Don't blame us for Bibi
...same as I don't blame Americans that voted for
Benny Sanders for Donald Trump.

(95 posts)The fact that Netanyahu wants to annex the West Bank could spell disaster for Israel and the Palestinians alike. Had the United Nations Security Council, the United States, the International Community, and the leaders of Israel and the Arab countries enforced the two-state solution immediately follow the 1967 Six Day War (i. e. the Jewish sovereign nation-state of Israel and the nascent Palestinian sovereign nation-state alongside Israel that was comprised of West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem), forced Israel to give the now-occupied territories to the Palestinians and not allowed Israel to build settlements on those lands, things would be way different.
There would be two independent sovereign nation-states (i. e. the Jewish State of Israel, and the State of Palestine at peace right alongside one another, with Jerusalem as a shared Capitol between the two states (i. e. Jewish West Jerusalem as the Capitol of Israel and Arab East Jerusalem as the Capitol of Palestine.

(6,893 posts)Palestine could have been created in 1949, but instead Jordan annexed the wB including the old city of Jerusalem.
There should be a Palestine in the WB (with the exception of the old city of jerusalem and areas west of there). Israel should pull out of the WB (unilaterally if need be, as I do not think that Abbas has any desire to negotiate, as his position is strengthened by having the boogie man of Israel being a non peace partner). Then let the PA rule all the land there. Anyone living there, including the 'settlers' would fall under Palestinian rule.

(17,474 posts)The Palestinians and Arab counties started a war of Genocide against Israel in 1967, and lost, badly. Why do you think they should be rewarded with a country? And why do you think they would live "at peace right alongside one another"? Can you provide an example of Jews living in peace anywhere in the Levant or Mahgreb? What happened to the Jews of Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen, Iraq, Syria and Iran?

(6,893 posts)by even annexing blocks, you break up the WB to the point where it would be hard to form a continuous Palestine. Additionally it probably is illegal under international law to have settlements in conquered territory. I mean we attack Russia for having people move into the Crimea right?
What the Arab nations did by expelling their Jewish populations was wrong, but it doesn't mean that Israel should be allowed to have people move into conquered territory is right.
