Democratic leaders back Muslim lawmaker after Holocaust comments
Susan Cornwell
3 MIN READ
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Democratic leaders on Monday rallied behind a freshman lawmaker on Monday after President Donald Trump and other Republicans attacked her over comments about the Holocaust and Palestinians.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Majority Leader Steny Hoyer both issued statements on Twitter saying Trump and other Republicans should apologize to Representative Rashida Tlaib, a Palestinian-American from Michigan and one of two Muslim women in Congress. Presidential candidate and senator Bernie Sanders also weighed in.
On the Yahoo News podcast Skullduggery last week, Tlaib was asked about her support for a one-state solution to the conflict between Israel and Palestinians.
In a rambling answer, she said: Theres kind of a calming feeling I always tell folks when I think of the Holocaust, and the tragedy of the Holocaust, and the fact that it was my ancestors, Palestinians, who lost their land and some lost their lives, their livelihood, their human dignity, their existence in many ways, have been wiped out, and some peoples passports.
I mean, just all of it was in the name of trying to create a safe haven for Jews, post-the Holocaust, post-the tragedy and the horrific persecution of Jews across the world at that time, and I love the fact that it was my ancestors that provided that, right, in many ways. But they did it in a way that took their human dignity away, right, and it was forced on them, she said.

Do you think the Jewish people have a right to live in their ancestral homeland?

provided? The sources for those excerpted writings are linked to in the entry. I am not going to find each of them online separately when they are documented in the link I provided and you can yourself check them if you do not believe them to be Morriss.
I do not think any people have the right to use force and theft to remove any indigenous people in order to occupy lands those people have lived on for thousands of years, in which they have been the dominant population.
I think I will defer to Miko Peled to discuss some of these issues. I do not think an ancestral link to original Hebrew tribes justifies the occupation, or can explain continuing apartheid:

Ask the host, Lithos if you need more information.
Whether you like Morris of not, the vast majority of his piece was simply stating facts.

(8,147 posts)to achieve a Jewish state. The wiki entry I linked to provides ample documentation of his extremist views, shocking positions, in fact. His theory blaming Palestinians for the holocaust, directly and indirectly is alone discrediting.
Is Miko Peled banned? Norman Finkelstein?
I could have provided other sources that establish that Palestinians were victims of ethnic cleansing, driven out of their lands and homes to become permanent refugees, and are an occupied people.
I, however, refuse to debate with anyone who subscribes to Morriss beliefs.
If any source should be banned in a discussion of the conflict, it is a Bernie Morris.
Is the group Jewish Voice for Peace anti-Semitic?
What about the journal Mondoweiss online?
J Street?
End of.
I leave it to admin.
I certainly do not think Morris is a credible or sane source for any discussion.
Miko Peled, not a scholar, but an avid researcher, is featured in Youtube videos lectures about what he, the grandson of an Israeli state founder, son of a General during the six day war, former Israeli soldier, discovered about state founding myths.
It must be understood that any scholarship that counters the official story is not represented in mainstream American media. Norman Finkelstein could not get his most recent book about Gaza reviewed by the NYT and was labeled as pro-Palestinian for his challenges to the hard right wing in Israel and his writings about the plight of the Palestinian people. Dershowitz called him not a real Jew, despite the fact that both his parents are concentration camp survivors.

(3,386 posts)He's citing to If American's Knew, which is citing to "The Origin of the Palestine-Israel Conflict." Essentially, he's citing to a hate site which is citing to a fraud. It's highly unlikely that Jews for Justice in the Middle East is a Jewish organization.

(17,474 posts)Alison weir (owner of IAK) is so bad JVP won't even work with her.
In the course of Weirs appearance with Clay Douglas on August 25, 2010, for example, she was silent when Douglas invoked the Protocols of the Elders of Zion and engaged in a racist diatribe against Jews. Her troubling associations and choices further include giving interviews to a range of far-right outlets including The American Free Press, which the Southern Poverty Law Center has identified as a hate group, and the anti-gay, anti-Jewish pastor Mark Dankof.
Not only have we not seen evidence that she has disavowed, debated, or challenged the thinking of any of these outlets or institutions, Weir has made clear in her response to our letter that she will proudly continue her practice of pursuing airtime on white supremacist radio shows and other such outlets without refuting, debating, or otherwise decrying their racist, anti-Semitic, and homophobic beliefs. She is entitled to continue this strategy, just as we are entitled to decide not to work with her.
