Israel’s construction industry is seeking to replace up to 100,000 Palestinian workers with Indian labourers.

The work permits of scores of Palestinian workers were cancelled in the wake of the Hamas attacks on 7 October and have led to a slowdown in Israel’s construction sector, which is now grappling with a severe labour shortage.

A Voice Of America (VOA) report from the West Bank said the Israeli construction industry has asked Tel Aviv’s authorities to allow companies to hire up to 100,000 Indian workers to replace the Palestinians.

India shares strong ties with Israel, even though it has historically called for a two-state solution to the conflict.

When Hamas gunmen attacked Israel on October 7, farmhands who had travelled thousands of miles (kilometres) to work close to the Gaza border found themselves on the front line.

What information do you have that workers are exploited and serve as a cheap labor force? I'll answer that for you. You have none.
Here is a fact: Palestinians seek work in Israel because they earn 2x the salary they earn in the West Bank.
Here is another fact: The work visas of Palestinians have been cancelled because Hamas conducted a Medieval murderous raid on innocent civilians and started a war.

8. marabout, I would label your reaction knee jerk. The entire article confirms my point. It is quite clear

he is suggesting that Gaza and the Palestinians will be no loss ion they are entirely destroyed because they can be replaced by 100,000 Indians.

Consider for a moment what it meant for those Palestinians to work in Israel. Everyday they had to go through the humiliation of constantly having their papers checked. At any time, for an any reason, their permits can be revoked, or the entryways into Israel closed. The Israelis can withhold food, water, fuel, internet - basically every vital element of modern life - anytime they want. sounds like hell to me.

Where is Israel going to put those 100,000 Indians? In illegal settlements on the West Bank?
