VP Harris calls on Israel to respect international law, stop killing innocent Palestinians

WASHINGTON - Vice President Kamala Harris gave remarks in Dubai on Saturday that sharply criticized both Hamas and Israel, saying the Biden administration wants the conflict to end and for both to provide more protection for Palestinians in Gaza.

Harris, in her most extensive public comments to date about the war in Gaza, stressed that Israel had a right to defend itself from attacks by Hamas, which killed about 1,200 people and kidnapped another 240 in a brutal Oct. 7 cross-border attack. She acknowledged that the U.S.-designated terrorist group wants to wipe out its existence, but added that Israel “must do more to protect civilian life” in its military response.

"Too many innocent Palestinians have been killed”

In conversations with Israeli leaders, Harris said that she and President Biden have stressed that, “The United States is unequivocal; international humanitarian law must be respected. Too many innocent Palestinians have been killed.”

“Frankly, the scale of civilian suffering and the images and videos coming from Gaza are devastating,” Harris added.

2. Yeah, we can't have it both ways and this will not be lost on the world...especially the Muslim world.

If we want to be at increased threat of terrorist attack, we are on the right path. As much as I hate to think about it, I don't see us breaking this cycle of violence unless we stop Iranian support for terrorists, And short of enforced regime change in Iran I don't know how we do that. Talk about being between a rock and a hard place.

but it still devotes paragraphs 4 through 7 to the VP's remarks about the high civilian death toll.

One article gives a wider context, while the other goes deeper on one part of the issue.
Neither mislead.

and in observing first hand the discrepancies between it and, in particular, the sensationalized header of the article.

Harris certainly did not single Israel out in calling for respecting international law, or in stopping the killing innocent civilians, as the header states.
