The Amsterdam 'Pogrom' That Wasn't: Corporate Media Fails To Tell the Whole Story

https://www.commondreams.org/news/the-amsterdam-pogrom-that-wasn-t-corporate-media-fails-to-tell-the-whole-story

Fans of Maccabi Tel Aviv stage a pro-Israel demonstration at the Dam Square, lighting up flares and chanting “Let the IDF win" and "F*** the Arabs!" ahead of the UEFA Europa League match between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Ajax in Amsterdam, Netherlands on November 07, 2024.

Maccabi fans clashed with Amsterdam citizens and ripped off Palestinian flags hung on the streets. Photo caption

The Amsterdam 'Pogrom' That Wasn't: Corporate Media Fails To Tell the Whole Story

'The Israeli fans instigated the violence after arriving in the city and attacking Palestinian supporters before the match'

The violence reportedly started when the far-right Israeli soccer hooligans began chanting racist and violent anti-Arab slogans, attacked Arab and Muslim residents, and vandalized houses and businesses with Palestinian flags.

Yet the corporate media - both in the US and abroad - portrayed the events as one-sided "anti-semitic" attacks on helpless soccer fans:

This is a massive media scandal.

@SkyNews posted a video accurately describing what happened in Amsterdam.

It described violence perpetrated by Israeli football hooligans, and their hideous racism.

They then deleted it. This is the original.

If the msm is reporting truthfully, then other news sources and live reports are untrue and biased.

So some soccer fans chanted offensive things and tore down a pair of flags?

This somehow shifts culpability away from gangs of people chasing other down and beating them on the street? Then there's the interview with the "Amsterdam councilor" claiming that the real context the reporting is missing is the government's culpability in a genocide in Gaza.

"There are no schools in Gaza as there are no more children in Gaza".
"Let the IDF win, we will f*** the Arabs".
"Death to Arabs".

Beating up Muslim/Arab cab drivers, demolishing one of their cabs, throwing rocks at houses, running amok in large groups carrying metal rods, throwing them at police and others, burning Palestinian flags...

Those actions tend to upset people too.

The Maccabi ultra fans were not beaten up because they were Jewish. They were beaten up because they are racist assholes who threw the genocide of kids and innocents into the faces of the Muslim and Arab and Dutch citizens of Amsterdam and engaged in violence first. Hell, they were there to provoke, gloat and incite. Perhaps that's why they were accompanied by MOSSAD agents.

For over a year those citizens in Amsterdam - Muslim or not - have seen the carnage and bloodletting in Gaza. Now witnessing ethnic cleansing in broad daylight. Add the presence of the Maccabi assholes gloating and provoking - what happened was bound to happen.

Yes, context matters. And our media - Western and Israeli - have once again shown that they are not up to the job. They are simply shills for Israel's narrative and agenda.

Kudos to Commondreams for exposing such vast conspiracy as corporate media was covering it up!

It was up to the local authorities to determine if crimes were suspected, and by whom.

I think they are sufficiently competent in their judgements.
