And of course 9/11...

Was a horrible move. Not a mistake clearly. It was well-thought out and well-planned, but a sad move which mirrored the general trend in US political discourse to separate people as a means of controlling the narrative.

You have free speech. Just as long as you stand over THERE! (Behind that wall, so others mightn't see you.)

I mean... Creating a forum for a specific topic controlls the narrative... How? Are not all points of view on the topic allowed?

In DU2, anyone could post in those forums, and it is the same now. If people are so all fired interested in the topic(s), then there they are in one easy place to find.

It is a further "analysis" on why it is bad. That doesn't explain how they are "controlled." If everyone has access, and everyone can comment, then how is the conversation "controlled?" Now I have to ask how it is "thinned, diluted?" Basically, why not just have ONE big forum, no sub-forums whatsoever? By breaking things into "pets, photography, comics, TV, feminists, GLBT" are they not also "thinned?"

Different things have different levels of import, right? You may be interested in both snowmobiles and human rights issues, but they are not equally important.

By scattering your attention into different areas, by scattering people's efforts into different sub-groups, their power and focused is limited.

As an example, I have french-onion soup in the oven right now that I must attend... it is dinner time here in Japan... and I must run.

I hope to continue the conversation later and I am sorry that I did not have more time to think of a decent response to your (very appropriate) question.

You were required to do 2 years of PE. For those that didn't want to do anything, they had that course.
