How come no one thinks singer Jeff Buckley's 1997 drowning is suspicious?

How many people do you know who swim in the Mississippi River with all of their clothes on? Perhaps someone high as a kite or drunk off their face, but the autopsy said there were no drugs or alcohol in his body. I find it highly suspicious.

On the evening of May 29, 1997, Buckley's band flew to Memphis intending to join him in his studio there to work on the newly written material. That same evening, Buckley went swimming in Wolf River Harbor, a slack water channel of the Mississippi River, while wearing boots and all of his clothing, and singing the chorus of the song "Whole Lotta Love" by Led Zeppelin. Buckley had gone swimming there several times before. A roadie in Buckley's band, Keith Foti, remained on shore.

So how many completely sober/drug free 30 year olds do you know who swim with their clothes on, let alone boots? Seems highly suspicious.

Why is the fact that the eye witness was a roadie relevant? They could have been best friends.

4. Why are you ignoring the fact that he swam with all his clothes on?

Swimming with all your clothes on is rare enough, but no one willingly swims with boots on that isn't either very high, drunk, or insane. All I'm saying is it should have not have been so easily dismissed as not suspicious.

Never said the eyewitness being a roadie was relevant, just said he was the only one. Close friends unfortunately means little, but we don't even know if they were. Either way, it's irrelevant.

I guess I don't see any indication of foul play nor do I see any way to investigate it.

If I was found like that in my pool or a lake, I would hope it would be investigated.

Buckley's autopsy showed no signs of drugs or alcohol in his system and the death was ruled as an accidental drowning. The following statement was released from the Buckley estate:

Jeff Buckley's death was not "mysterious," related to drugs, alcohol, or suicide. We have a police report, a medical examiner's report, and an eye witness to prove that it was an accidental drowning, and that Mr. Buckley was in a good frame of mind prior to the accident.[111]

10. Stranger things have happened!

I remember watching a documentary about coroners. One of them being interviewed said that even years later she was still mystified by the drowning death of a 9 year old boy, in six inches of water in a Creek. There was nothing physically wrong with him.
