(716 posts)The back-story came out, but sank out of sight; thanks, in large part, to the corporate news (noose!), which shouts the headlines that further it's purposes (Terrorism Alert! in this case), and whisper the details that do not, knowing their people won't follow it up, and others that do lack the public ear.
Success must have made them sloppy, because quite a few of the more recent Agency-led plots have been embarrassingly lame and wasteful.

(11,040 posts)You've been heavily propagandized with distorted facts, courtesy of the "truth movement." Salam made a recording when he was trying to get more expense money, and Salam himself simply claimed that a different agent knew the bomb was real. No, that's not "enough to clear himself."

(716 posts)...and the continuing similar behavior exposed by the 2012 Senate Committee on Homeland Security, in which the 680 'successes fighting terrorism' were exposed , in large part, as wasteful and dishonest entrapment, encouragement, funding, and supplying operations - cynical manipulations, serving to justify the existence and extravagant funding of the Fusion Centers while furthering the demonisation of Muslims.
This was backed up and further exposed in 2013 in Trevor Aaronson's "The Terror Factory" in greater detail.
Saluting the generated headlines about "Blocked Terrorism Operations" while ignoring the sordid details demonstrates gullibility or worse.
