Appreciation thread for Mark Lane

Lane knew Jack Kennedy and made interviews of many of the witnesses to his assassination. These are documented in the book/film Rush to Judgment:

He was an attorney-activist who took on civil rights issues. He was a tireless seeker of truth. May all of us have his courage.

1. I read his first book and believed it

It didn't take a lot of courage to do either.

But wishing to be a "tireless seeker of truth" myself (or maybe just because I was curious), I looked into it some more and eventually came to agree with Lane's critics: The things he says that appear to be true don't prove a conspiracy, and the things he says that would prove a conspiracy don't appear to be true. I'm quite sure that Lane sincerely believed his theories, but that's not good enough. Simply claiming that all of the evidence the Warren Commission "official story" is based on was faked, and that all the evidence that would tell a different story was suppressed is simply not good enough to create a credible alternate history. Decades later, it seems that JFK conspiracy theorists still haven't come up with enough credible evidence to even convince each other of whose truth is truthier.
