How deep and wide is underground pedophilia in Washington? While Googling stuff (Bohemian Grove, etc.) I ran into this. Sure it could be CT BS but, it's something that makes you go hhmmmm.

The attraction of powerful people to little kids goes back a long way.

(12,479 posts)Rape and pedophilia are about how they can dominate another person. It makes sense that in a town where power and domination are the way of the world this would be "normal".

But I think overall I think the subject of 'desire to get with young people' is a bit more complicated than that/doesn't boil down to one single cause, kinda like addiction/alcoholism isn't always caused by 'a rough childhood', for example.
Ever read the Wikipedia page on Bonobo's, our closest animal relative? It is pretty trippy actually.
Not saying acting like Apes is acceptable in our society ... but pretty much everything people do has roots in our animal heritage.
You're probably right about the motivations of these particular people, but I think they're a subgroup ... another subgroup would be the religious ones who want things to be like they were 1000 years ago, when girls were married off at 13 ... they're into it based on the odd notion that this is 'how things are supposed to be, because it was this way a long time ago, when religion ruled' ...
If you see what I'm getting at ... multiple motivations are involved in that sort of thing, overall.

(92,731 posts)It;s been a while since the rules of interaction with the pages and other subordinates in the capitol were changed. It's been a while since pages, etc. have been complaining of inappropriate sexual behavior. Guess that whole scene went underground and Epstein was right there to capitalize the situation.

(23,283 posts)I asked him about it and he said he only went once and saw things he didnt want to talk about. He had this strange look on his face like he was pained thinking about it. The guy was a pretty upstanding type of man who appeared to have decent morals in all the years I knew him. He never cheated on his wife or was a skirt chaser like some of his other company partners.

(4,006 posts)I just dont see Mick Jagger or Richard Nixon as people who would rape and murder children for fun. Youd have to be a truly sick and psychopathic person to engage in these activities. Cmon, Tommy Lee Jones? Just not seeing it.

(9,696 posts)Not saying any of the people you've listed are doing these things. But as a society, there is a history of "not seeing" what is right in front of us.
weinstein and cosby come to mind. Look how long they did what they did.
