Creative Speculation
Related: About this forumWithin the next three weeks, by May 17, some Republicans will step forward to oppose Trump.
They may not run against him, but they will stand tall, and say what we have been waiting to hear from them.
Trump has lost it!!! Everyone can see it, and it is time. (as few as 2 or 3 Republicans)
....Maybe the next few days, or maybe next week. It is speculation, but the time is now, or very soon. It is a hunch and that is all. Why? I think a few will try to save their party, or try to save the U.S.A. Who? I don't have a clue.. Could be anyone or someone totally out of the loop..(retired, old, not active in politics, etc.,etc.)
.....................Someone well known..Yes. We will all know this person.
It is just a feeling that it is the time.....Of course, I have been wrong before, and will be wrong again. But I think it is finally time.

....I taught high school for many years. I am not a good speller. So, many times my students would correct the spelling. That was ok for me. We would laugh, and anything was possible. So many stories to tell. Maybe some other time. And it was more than 20 years ago.

(7,572 posts)His behavior will get worse, as it's gotten worse over his years in office. But the closer he gets to electoral defeat, the more frantic he'll get. It doesn't mean that he'll accept defeat; rather, it means that he'll use ANY means to maintain power. And he will NOT succumb to defeat, if the vote will show his defeat. He'll deny it, he'll object, he'll file suit against someone, he'll start an emergency, etc. He has a lot of tools in his toolbox, more than he's ever had in his life, and he'll use all of them. And when he runs out of tools, he'll use them all over again.

(38,726 posts)not to run again. I think they will try to get him to resign.. They know and see the decline and danger for him and for everyone. I am just someone who is hopeful from time to time................................................
... Most of the time, I do see the dark side. I was around for Kennedy's assassination. I watched Nixon resign. I recall as a kid we dreamed about landing on the moon, and we did.. I attended a class in the late 70s or early 80s, where the professor theorized that someday, there would be hand held computers like in the first Star Trek series, with Spock & Capt. Kirk. I thought that was not possible. The hand held things (forgot the name) would be everywhere. What else is there to say? Trump is not well, and most of us know it. Time has come and we will see what happens. ...

(7,572 posts)His getting "worn out" will lead to more erratic behavior. And his family might want to intervene before he offs himself or gets the codes and pushes the button. But given his pathology, the more stressed he gets, the more likely he won't listen to advice. His disturbance is counterintuitive in this respect, IMO. He will only see those around him as opposing his success, even Princess Sparkles. I tend to agree with a few others: that Trump's pathological pattern is to keep challenging the norms, keep fighting his opposition, his enemies. He may even begin to view his family as his enemies. There may not be a way out for him in which he will voluntarily admit defeat and resign. I'd like to think you're right. His leaving office would be a lot easier if you were right and he chose the path of accepting common sense advice.

I think it is possible the some in the GOP will want to put forth an alternative to Trump, but Im not sure there are enough with the backbone and influence to pull it off.
I think it will depend on the death rate over the next 30-60 days, and the resulting polls.
Romney, Kasich, Haley, or even Pence are all candidates. If it gets bad enough, they may try forcing Trump to resign via the 25th, but I think its all a long shot. I think they would only go that route if they were essentially giving up on the WH, and just trying to keep the senate.

(38,726 posts)..I started posting here more regularly a year or so ago. It is a good place to speculate about any political or current events. And yes, it is ok to be totally wrong. So what? It ain't the first time I have been wrong, and will not be the last time.
