Related: About this forumSteve Bannon "strategy": Trump to run for Congress in 2022 and, as Speaker, impeach Biden
The man, and his audience of Boston Republicans, are delusional. They are ignoring that Trump is a lazy fucker who would never have enough energy, skill or inclination to organize Republicans in the House, let alone get an impeachment going. I suspect Bannon said this to get on Trump's good side and as a way of grifting more money from someone:
Trump is a disruptor, but he has a long-term vision because I absolutely believe in the marrow of my bones that he will be our nominee in 2024, Bannon later added. Hell come back to us. Well have a sweeping victory in 2022, and hell lead us in 2024.
...
We totally get rid of Nancy Pelosi, and the first act of President Trump as speaker will be to impeach Joe Biden for his illegitimate activities of stealing the presidency, Bannon said, leading to applause and hollers from the Boston Republicans.
...
Its between populists, nationalists, traditionalists versus these kind of globalists, elites, secular radicals, Bannon said, adding, This is what I think the future of this movement is . Were going to have a big aspect of disaffected Democrats that start to come over.

This is, of course, close to anti-semitism with the talk of opposing "globalists". Again, it's delusional to think there are "disaffected Democrats" when Biden's policies have huge support among Democrats, good support among independents, and the initial policies are even going down well with a lot of Republican voters, in polls.

(5,667 posts)She would pick a VP. There would be endless impeachments as new Presidents would pick new VPs etc. and Trump would never get back in the WH.

(17,440 posts)Both houses need to confirm, not just the senate. So if the gop leads the house then no vp replacement would occur until 2024, even if we hold the senate.
Trump could get elected to congress unless blocked from serving again. There is always a deep red district that dems don't stand a chance of winning he could find, especially in FL. So that part could work.
The gop winning the entire house is absolutely in the realm of the possible. We have been battered in several mid term elections, and have lost control in more than one. And remember, the Speaker doesn't need to be an elected member of congress. They can be anyone the house elects.
Gerrymandering and voter suppression are stronger forces than ever.
If we don't seize the day and kick ass, they could get control of the house again. Then it will be non-stop impeachment regardless of their leader.
So could trump be speaker? Even for a few weeks at a time? yes. Unless we kick ass and serve the people.

(176,856 posts)Plus, he's widely disliked in that district so he could lose. And, if the Democrats still control the house, there's no way in hell he'd be elected Speaker.

(17,440 posts)All he would need to do is find a 100% safe district.
But even easier, the house can elect anyone to be speaker. You don't need to be an elected member. If the house goes to the gop, it would be a simple leadership vote to choose the speaker.
Heck, they could elect him speaker for a week, hold an impeachment vote, and he could make a floor speach on national tv and step down when he feels like it. They could do it once a month for 2 years.
Trump might never need to even be in washington.
It's a perversion of democracy, but that is the point here.
