Creative Speculation

Does anyone besides me think that those Secret Service agent specifically made sure it was egregious enough they would get taken off the detail? I mean, call me a conspiracy theorist, but that's what I think. So they made sure to get "caught"...oh, my bad...take my lumps. Why? Well, for one thing, it is an election year. For another, I don't exactly see the trip to Colombia being a welcome thing for them. Especially for some of the most right wing of them. Also, what if they know something? Or else it is in someone's plan? Sorry, but I saw JFK and it sickened me, and from then to the present day there is only one family alive that has "seen it all" so to speak. Thoughts? Comments?

(62,444 posts)In fact, prostitution in some settings, and Cartagena is one of them, is not a "money up front" proposition as it is elsewhere.
Given the general social considerations which apply in Latin America, it is assumed you know what is going on if a woman at the bar goes back to a hotel with someone she met, and that the payment afterwards is further assumed.
One of the early reports indicates that at least one agent didn't really understand how this works there.

(9,696 posts)I doubt the agents wanted to get caught to get taken off the job. They probably have legitimate ways of going about that. But I did wonder if the story was either a) a distraction from other events, or b) planned to somehow reflect badly on Obama?
Not exactly conspiracy material, but food for thought...

The point was to get all kinds of embarrassing facts about Clinton -- not really because anyone cared about Monica Lewinsky or that other forgotten woman from Arkansas.
Well, what if the point with the prostitutes and the "Obama scandal" is to somehow create a scandal about Obama?
What if the point is to loosen the tongues of some of the Secret Service that watch Obama's every move and know what goes on behind the closed doors of the White House?
Just a strange thought, but somehow, in this nasty campaign-to-come, not really such an impossible idea.
Imagine finding a way to get information about the conversations between Obama and Rahm Emmanuel in the newspapers. Wouldn't that be a Republican dream right now?
