NARCAP

NARCAP is the National Aviation Reporting Center on Anomalous Phenomena. This non-profit organization collects pilot, air traffic controller and aviation related data and testimonials regarding safety related incidents involving lights or objects that remain unidentifed after a thorough case analysis and conducts analysis of those cases to provide aviation with information and alternatives when dealing with UAP (Unidentifed Aerial Phenomena).

NARCAP.org recently posted this on Facebook:

It has come to our attention that several presenters at the "Citizens Disclosure Hearing" UFO show offered our work as evidence that UFO are alien spacecraft visiting Earth and that the US Gov knows about it and is covering it up.

Be advised that NARCAP does not endorse any position with respect to UAP as alien spacecraft nor does it endorse the "Citizens Disclosure Hearing" or anyone in attendance.

We have made it very clear to Mr. Basset that we want nothing to do with his beliefs and his productions and he and his presenters have opted to ignore us and abuse our work for their own ends.

NARCAP has no idea what UAP are. If we did we wouldn't call them UAP. The fact is that they are probably several different things and we can't state with confidence what they are without doing further work.

The use of our work by UFOlogy without our permission and the misrepresentation of it by various personalities is one of the reasons why we choose to avoid most UFO gatherings.

~~

Believing NARCAP to be reputable and not part of the lunatic fringe, I used to follow NARCAP on Facebook. I guess I’ll Unlike their page, because I now realize that NARCAP, while not loony, isn’t as objective about UFOs – oops, I mean UAPs - as they claim to be.

EDITED TO ADD: Despite NARCAP's claim to be objective about UAPs, every report by NARCAP I've seen appears to lean strongly toward their being alien craft.
