These are the safest and the most dangerous countries for LGBTQ visitors in 2020

A new ranking has been compiled of the best and worst countries for gay and trans visitors. Travel bloggers Asher & Lyric compiled their ‘Danger Index’ of 150 countries, with help from student researcher Stefanie Maraizu.

The index represents the 150 countries that receive the greatest number of visitors from other countries.

Asher & Lyric looked at whether countries offered same-sex marriage, whether gay sex was illegal, had specific propaganda or morality laws, and other legislation. They also looked at whether countries were ranked as “good places to live” in general.

They allocated a score based on these different factors and then assembled the list into an index based on the scores.

I have been to three of the safest, Ireland, Iceland, and Austria. I have to say, I am a bit surprised by Colombia being on the list.

3. Frankly, if they are not safe for LGBT or any major group of people, they are not safe for anyone

who doesn't adhere to whatever "principles" they may have.

I won't visit a country where anyone would not feel welcome. These countries can stay back in the dark ages if they want.

4. I just visited Tanzania and Zambia with a tour group of 19.

There were two sets of women traveling together, sharing rooms, and no one seemed to pay any attention. The only thing that surprised me was in Kenya. It was obvious that men were considered superior to women. The hotel wait staffs served men and couples before even looking at single women.

I think this list is more for actions against their own citizens than how dangerous it is for tourists.
