I hate netti pots. Effective maybe, but the sinus infection one can get if the pot isn't properly cleaned after EVERY use is gruesome & can be deadly as well.

Snip

The university report states that mouthwashes containing at least 0.07% cetypyridinium chloride (CPC) showed "promising signs" of being able to eradicate the virus when exposed to the virus in a lab.

Dr Richard Stanton, lead author on the study, said: "This study adds to the emerging literature that several commonly-available mouthwashes designed to fight gum disease can also inactivate the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus (and other related coronaviruses) when tested in the laboratory under conditions that are designed to mimic the oral/nasal cavity in a test tube.

"This study is not yet peer reviewed and published which means it has not yet been scrutinised by other scientists as is the usual process with academic research. It has now been submitted for publication in a journal.

"[IPeople should continue to follow the preventive measures issued by the UK government, including washing hands frequently and maintaining social distance."

I can't believe it took them this long to figure out that there is a common OTC product that people could have been using. I'm skeptical.

Through his Berkshire Hathaway Inc., Warren Buffett invested in four Big Pharma companies in the third quarter, according to Berkshire's 13F filing. More than $1.8 billion was put in AbbVie (21.2M shares), Bristol Myers Squibb (30M shares), and Merck (22.4M shares), as well as $136 million in Pfizer (3.71M shares).

Isn't it more common to get infected with diseases generally through that route?

I don't see how mouthwash is going to help with that.

that you could use, like, every hour on the hour when you have to be in public, that would kill Covid (without killing us or our brain cells or nasal lining).

Let's say you use it in the morning but then are exposed to Covid at night, after a day of drinking water, tea, etc. Then you use the mouthwash again in the morning after the virus has had all night to circulate. Or are you supposed to use mouthwash all day long? Doesn't seem practical.

Though you are not supposed to drink mouthwash either, and not sure how this is really going to help anyone unless they constantly are swishing mouthwash for 30 seconds. You do it after you get home, way too much time has passed for it to kill much virus, plus the majority is entering through the nose, not the mouth. Sounds like a way to get mouthwash off the shelves though.

although I wouldn't recommend it at this point - I would think that the alcohol could damage the cells lining the nasal cavity or dry it out and impair its normal function.

This could result in you being more susceptible to airborne pathogens when you are not actively treating your nasal cavity.
